The Accelerated Reading
program continues to be very strong, and many students are earning
points daily. In the spring of 2002, the LACE organization provided
funds for the purchase of the STAR Reading program. The students
grades 1-7 have tested to find their individual reading level.
The classroom reading teachers sent home this report and explained
to the students what reading level range the books they choose
to read for AR needs to be for each student. Each student has
a reading grade level range to choose books from the CA library,
public library, home library, classroom library or book stores.
It is important that each student stay within their range to be
successful when testing on the books with the AR program at school

The
CA Library Media Centers provide materials and resources
to support the curriculum. Our goal is that students will
become independent library users and life long learners
with a love of reading. The Lower School centers around
students developing a love of reading and learning the organization
of libraries. The Upper School continues encouraging the
love of reading and helps to develop research skills.

| Each
class grades K-6 has a scheduled visit. |
Students
in K-1 may checkout one book each visit.
Students 2-6 may checkout 1-3 books each visit.
Students may also renew chapter books once. |
| Please
return damaged books to the library for repair. Accidents
can and do happen, we understand. Books damaged beyond repair
must be replaced. A bill will be sent home listing the replacement
cost. Remember library books have a higher cost because of
cover treatments and book processing costs. All replacement
books must be ordered by the librarians. Should a page accidentally
rip, please return it to the library and we will repair the
page with special tape. |
|
At this time there is no fine for overdue books in grades K-6.
Grades 7-12 will need to check with Mrs. Barker for their fines.
If a student has an overdue book, checkout privileges are
denied until the book is returned. |
| After
45 school days any book that has not been returned to the
library will be assumed lost. An overdue bill with the cost
of replacing the book will be sent home. |
